Improve your search engine ranking by adding UK geographical data (country, county, town/suburb. postcode) to product listings in OS Commerce
A hierarchy of links is created, each linking through (via a search engine friendly URL) to a product info page containing keywords for the location. This allows you to customise the product info page with phrases like 'buy dvds in London, NW1', or 'books for sale in Kent'. The end result is thousands of dynamically generated product info pages, each containing location keywords ... perfect food for good search engine placement.
Top level links
The screenshot below shows the top level links (country/county). The position of the table of links can easily be changed, as can the formatting (via CSS)
2nd level links
Clicking on a top level link reloads the product info page with the second level links (town/district/suburb)
Keywords
At each link depth, geographical keywords can be added to help with search engine optomisation - in the image above, 'Purchase Flogas Propane Gas 47KG Refill in Kent'. The location of the keywords can easily be altered via variables which can be placed anywhere on the page.
